Welcome to PHMS!

Welcome 7th graders to PHMS.  I am expecting a very exciting year working with you and learning math!  I enjoyed meeting many of your parents last Monday evening and look forward to learning names, faces, and personalities as the year progresses.  We have a lot to do and a lot of planning for the upcoming State Fair Connection in math!!

I will be posting assignments each week in my blog....no excuses for homework not being done.  Also, did you know you can access your book online???  Here's how:
  • Google:  glencoe.com
  • The Access Code you need is:  E1F93C224B
  • Connect to online resources by using the Quick Pass code MC0466c1 (this code gets you to chapter 1.  For chapter 2, place a 2 at the end of the code, etc!!!)
I will also attempt to place the QR codes for assignments.  This is new to me so please be patient while I attempt this technology piece!!!  Isn't it fun to learn!?!?
Monday
  • Advanced Math - Lesson 1-6, pgs. 46-47:  #14-31, 35, 36, 42, 43

April 18 - 21

Oh my!! I have not written on my blog for quite some time....but none of you have asked about my lapse!!  I keep forgetting to write and have been so busy it keeps getting moved to the bottom of my list of things to do!!

Hold on for a crazy few weeks before school it out!  This week is going to include combined chorus schedules, shadows from BGS, track meets, band festival, tennis meets, and no school on Friday.  Anything else that can be included?

We are going to continue working on probability this week.  Monday will be independent compound probability, Tuesday will be dependent compound probability, Wednesday will be a review (with a sub because I will be gone) and Thursday we will be working on theoretical probability.

All I can say is hold on to your hat because this is going to be a hectic few weeks but we will keep working on learning math.

Just a reminder that this week is an unusual schedule because of the reading assessments.  Make sure you have a copy of the block schedule to follow.....and you know where you are going!!

There will be three days that I see you this week.....depending on the schedule.  The lessons/activities on those three days will be:

Day #1 - composite figures and review

State Assessments Coming Soon - April 4 - 7!!!!

Yes, the state assessments are headed to the math department soon.  They are schedule for the week of April 4 - 7 and I know how much you are ready for the tests.  We still have a few items to cover and hopefully will have some review time!!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE practice on IXL - especially the areas of decimals and fractions - add, subtract, multiply, and divide - with NO calculator.  There are many other topics to be found on IXL so practice other concepts you are not sure about but try to hit decimals and fractions - BIG TIME!!!!

February 28 - March 4

This week sure got away from me!  I was talking to a parent about my blog and being able to find the homework assignments on here when I realized I had not posted the assignments for the week.  You all know how hectic my life has been because of the issues with my mom's health.  Yes, she is still in the hospital be we are hoping she gets moved to Dillon Living Center soon!!

Here are the assignments for the week, just in case you have missed some of them!

February 21

Welcome to a new week!  I'm sitting here at the hospital with my mother, knowing that you are all cooperating and working hard for my substitute.  I really appreciate your patience as I help my mother through this tough period, knowing that she will be here for a long time....

There are a lot of you that have been absent (I'm assuming out sick) and have a lot of catching up to get done.  Remember, you can always look for your homework assignments on this blog and/or on PowerSchool in order to stay caught up with your work.

Monday - review
Tuesday -test on chapter 10
Wednesday - begin chapter 11 on perimeter
Thursday - area of squares and rectangles
Friday - area of parallelograms

Most of the assignments in chapter 11 are going to be worksheets.....I know how much you enjoy worksheets rather than assignments out of the book.  Just something to look forward too!!

We are going to spend the next week continuing our exploration of proportions in the form of scale factor and scale drawings.  You will be using your structure project that you completed "last year" on a famous structure.  Believe it or not, we will also have a "test" his week!!
